MetLife Plays Up the Nostalgia Factor in ‘Everyone’ Super Bowl Ad
Not counting the American Family Insurance spot that aired after the game was already over, MetLife was the lone insurance company willing to shell out the estimated $3.5 million for a 30 second ad during yesterday’s Super Bowl. In addition to the usual Peanuts crew (a MetLife advertising staple since 1985), the commercial also featured an impressive cast of well-known cartoon characters including He-Man, Mr. Magoo, Scooby Doo and the gang, The Jetsons, and countless others.
The ad features the tagline “I Can Do This” and emphasizes the company’s financial services, stating “No matter who you are, no matter where you’re from, every family everywhere should have the financial security they need. Not just the ones who can figure it out. Not just the most fortunate. Everyone.”
You can watch the ad below, and for some serious bonus points, try to see if you can tally up how much money MetLife must have shelled out in order to get the rights to this many famous characters.
