Drunk Driver Smashes Into Wendy's, Blames Own Car

A man in Tampa Bay crashed into the side of a Wendy's this past weekend while attempting to back out of his parking spot. The 47-year-old man, Edward Capobianco, told police his "gear box was messed up," which caused the car to go onto the sidewalk and ultimately collide with the fast food restaurant's brick wall.

Whether or not the car was actually at fault, alcohol may have also played a small role. Capobianco was charged with careless driving, having no proof of insurance, DUI, and DUI with property damage. His passenger was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and failing to appear in court.

The story serves as yet another reminder of why you should always carry your proof of insurance with you while making a quick Wendy's Baconator run. After all, what if your gearbox gets "messed up" while you're driving drunk?
