Two days ago Progressive announced they're lowering auto insurance rates in the state of West Virginia. After reviewing rate prices for the state, they determined the costs were a bit high and subsequently made the decision to re-price rates so they would be more affordable to customers.

Petplan Pet Insurance Cautions Hairballs Can Be Costly

For many cats, the occasional hairball can be a bit of a nuisance, but according to a new report from Petplan Pet Insurance, the hairball can also be annoyingly costly for the cat’s owner. Although Petplan’s 2011 claims data shows that the average cost of veterinary care related to hairballs is only $90, there have been some cases in which the price skyrocketed as high as $3,000 for a hairball related vet bill.

Former CEO of Missouri Employers Mutual Insurance Indicted on Misappropriation of Funds

Roger Wilson, the former CEO of Missouri Employers Mutual Insurance Company, has been indicted on misappropriating $5,000 from the company. Until his indictment, Wilson had served as the CEO of the company since 2009. Edward Griesedieck III, a partner at the Herzog Crebs law firm in St. Louis, was also indicted. A third person, Douglas Morgan (who served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Missouri Employers Mutual) was also implicated but is now deceased.

Florida legislators are patting themselves on the back for implementing "pro-business" bills this year, one of which has led to auto insurance reform. The bills were passed during the state's most recent legislative session, with the auto insurance reform preventing a 30% cost increase.
