Pet Owners Would Rather Receive Cuddles from Their Pet Than from a Loved One on Valentine's Day

Petplan Pet Insurance conducted an online survey from over 6,000 pet owners about how they'll be celebrating Valentine's Day next week, and 60% said they'd "rather receive Valentine's Day kisses from their four-legged, furry friends than their two-legged sweethearts." Ouch. Some people really love their pets.

Furthermore, 78% of the pet owners polled said they were going to spoil their pets on Valentine's Day by showering them with treats, toys, spa outings, and other goodies.

Some other oddball stats:

  • 62% plan to spend up to $10 on Valentine's Day gifts for their pets
  • 27% will spend up to $25
  • 11% will spend over $25 on their pets on Valentine's Day
  • 25% said their pets have their own special "valentine," whether that's a beloved toy or a real-life companion
  • 20% said their pets will be sending out "valentines of their own" to friends and family (we assume they'll be getting some assistance at the post office considering they lack opposable thumbs and fine motor skills)

These amusing stats come courtesy of Petplan Pet Insurance, who offers fully customizable pet insurance policies for that special critter in your life.

Do you plan on spoiling your pet this Valentine's Day, or are you saving more of your love and affection for a human counterpart?
