Most Expensive States for Car Insurance

An online study done by Insure.com has determined that drivers in Louisiana, Michigan, and Oklahoma pay the highest premiums for auto insurance in the country. Acording to the same study, Vermont had the lowest rates. 

To get their results they calculated the average premiums for a male driver, 40 years old, using car insurance rates from six large carriers, State Farm, Allstate, Progressive, GEICO, Farmers, and Nationwide. This profile would generate an average rate of $995 in Vermont. That exact same person could expect to pay $2,453 in Louisiana, and would pay $2.541 in Michigan and $2,197 in Oklahoma.  Here is the entire list:
